June 26 Summer in MesaHi everyone, just an update to let you know what's going on. Not too much is going on so this will probably be a short entry. Things in Mesa are well, HOT, but well. Sara is enjoying her work most days and Jake isn't going to crazy this summer. It's hard to believe he's already 13! Next thing you know he will be going off and getting married. Otherwise things are calm and quiet, quite the opposite from how my summers have gone the last seven years. But it's nice. Well take care! - Jon April 02 Appologies to everyone for the delay in getting this blog updated. Things have been busy the last half year, last September we finally left Philmont after living out there for seven years! Jake seemed to adapt to his new school well and Sara is enjoying her work as a reading tutor. I'm currently running my own transcription business, which has been pretty interesting to say the least! We moved to Mesa, Arizona, near where Sara grew up and have enjoyed the area, though we are starting to face a hot summer so my opinion may change! On the friend front, over spring break we got to visit Mr. Bean and Justin while in California. It was good seeing the guys but a little sad knowing that we wouldn't be hanging out at philmont together anymore. On the plus side things are better and Sara and I can finally start thinking about adding to our little family.
Jon April 25 More updates! Here are some more pictures From Sara''s Birthday! She's an old woman of 24 now! and Jake's school play. Jake played the "woodsman" in a re-telling of the story of Little Red Riding Hood. His good friend Elizabeth played Red. Well will be sure to post some more photos soon as Jake's birthday is coming up in less then two weeks now!
Jon April 24 Summer is coming!Summer is coming!Well, The summer is rapidly getting closer and things are gearing up here at Philmont. Sara is the Family program director for the training center this year and is trying to get ready for her extremely large staff to arrive.. While yours truly is doing the same thing he always does. WE are glad that several of our good friends are coming back this summer. People like Bean and Dan-Dan. We are sad that some long time philmont regulars are not coming back, Mark, Chrysteena, Jack! you will be missed. this time of year is always busy as we get ready for the summer to start but it's not busy enough that we can't enjoy ourselves. Last weekend we went fishing at the Philmont lake and Jake and I also got to play a few miniature games. Sara taught herself how to knit and is now a knitting machine... Jake and Sara also participated in the 5 k run last week. (I couldn't as me knee is acting up) and Jake came in third overall and won a free camel-back backpack! Well, that's it for now, I'll try to update again soon!
Jon March 01 Philmont Fire Updatewell, It's 4:15pm and most of the fire is out around base camp. There are still several near by hot spots but the majority of the fire is farther north, near the cimarron river and South of us near Urraca Trail. (Yes, Andrea, I know... our poor Urraca Trail!) We still have plenty of fire left to put out. Hopefully the wind will keep down tonight and we will be able to get it more under control. Our family has weathered everything well so far. Jake managed to make it to school, (through the police roadblock) and Sara has packed all our bags just in case we need to evac quickly tonight. I spent a big part of today with a garden house spraying down all the trees and buildings in the Training Center area. Well, that's it for now.. I'll try to update more later. Fire at PhilmontWoke up this morning at 3:00am to a huge fire in our back yard. For those of you that know Philmont it's burning about 1000 acers so far, From Coyote Mesa ( which most of these pictures are of) to threaten Rayado in the south Country. I will post more as we find out.. So far no evacuations, let's keep our fingers crossed and say our prayers. January 26 Marble Madness!Jake had his marble Touny last weekend. He had been practicing a lot and did pretty well. He won the Webelos division and got a really nice Marbles Trophy. Afterwards we spent a thrilling afternoon in Trinidad Colorado at the Super Wal-MArt... I know, I know we live such exciting lives. Wait till next update, hopefully we will have much more exciting news....... or maybe not |
